The mission of the Virginia Institute of Pastoral Care is to provide:

  • Pastoral counseling which integrates wisdom from the faith traditions and the behavioral sciences,

  • Educational programs for ministers, congregations and community professionals as they provide competent, compassionate pastoral care and counseling, and

  • Partnership in responding to community needs for healing.

An initial appointment time and counselor will be assigned at a counseling center of your choice.

American Association of Pastoral Counselors

According to the AAPC website, the association provides and promotes "counseling and consultation as an extension of the ministry of faith communities."

They strive to provide the education and credentials pastoral counselors need to incorporate faith and psychology into counseling. The AAPC incorporates the advocation and "well being of persons and communities" into their mission statement.
